Happy New Year – 2010 Videos

If your kids are old enough to understand the new year, but can’t stay awake, show them celebrations from around the world. It’s one of the side benefits of living in North America — being among the last to ring in the new year.

Update: Or show them the celebrations the day afterward.

Auckland, New Zealand:

Sydney, Australia:

Dream Mall, Kaohsiung, Taiwan:

Snow ball fight, apparently in Portugal:

New Year concert somewhere in China:

Tower countdown, Taipei, Taiwan. Action starts 30 seconds in.

Footage from inside a tower (Taipei?) where fireworks are shooting off:

Manila, Philippines:

Moscow, Russia:

Greetings and a song from, I’m guessing, North America:

Random Polish family:

Matthew’s New Year song:

San Francisco:

New York:

Happy New Year!

We’ll be at the bowling alley for the “Family New Years Eve Party” complete with fake countdown at 8:00pm. Even I can’t stay awake until midnight these days. Thanks for the links, the fireworks are awesome.

We spent the evening playing Settlers of Catan with friends. The only downside was waking two sleeping kids, getting them into our car in a downpour and getting them resettled at home.

i don’t know if it is still available or not, but there is a sesame street new years video that is perfect for those who want to celebrate but are too little to stay up.
