Giveaway: Busytown Board Game
Ends Sunday night!

Up for grabs to one lucky Thinga-reader is the Busytown Board Game in which kids race through Busytown and hop a ferry to Picnic Island — as a team.
To enter, use the comment form to post a comment on this article telling us:
1) Which Richard Scarry vehicle car is the better: Lowly Worm’s apple car or Bananas Gorrila’s banana car, and why. Alternately, you may argue that a third vehicle from Scarry’s world is superior, even one not pictured in the image below.
2) Include your valid e-mail address in the “Email:” field of the form.
This contest is open to residents of the US and Canada (you need a North American shipping address).
The deadline is 11:59 p.m. Sunday, December 6. One winner will be selected at random and notified via e-mail. You’ll have 48 hours to respond or the prize might be awarded to someone else.
Example entry:
Banana car is better because it can make a slippery getaway.
It’s not rocket science. It’s a random giveaway. Just have fun.

Bananas are my son’s favorite fruit so definitely the banana car!

The worm car is best because I have fond memories of it from my childhood.

The worm car is best – because everyone knows that gorillas are too big to ride on bananas, & yet a worm is perfectly sized for an apple.

Now this is a contest I can jump all over.
I argue that the mouse pencil car is superior. It has an aerodynamic shape (without the mouse or mice sticking out at least) for cruising the streets of Busytown. It has the benefit of being easily expandable, get a larger pencil, fit more mice. Also, lost your pen? Just grab your car. Great to get around in and for illustrating or teaching.
Seriously it’s our favorite car in the Busytown universe. We love to pick them out and count the mice.
Great contest! And thanks for the review of the game. With or without the contest, the game will definitely be under our tree this year!

I like the worm car best – it looks like there’s room for more worm buddies in there, and traveling together is always better than traveling alone.
December 4th, 2009 at 9:15 am
A worm in an apple is one of those items that makes you smile b/c you COULD actually find that in real life. B/c of Scarry’s humor, lowly worm gets the prize!

I think the alligator car that the rabbit drives in Cars and Trucks and Things That Go is the best car in the Scarry universe. It gives the cute & fuzzy driver a fighting chance. But then, I live in Florida and have seen gators make meals out of frogs, turtles and (headline news) the occasional poodle. I may be a bit biased.

My kids would be all over the hot dog car! For some reason, the egg car makes me smile.
December 4th, 2009 at 11:15 am
The apple car is best since it’s like a little worm Popemobile.
December 4th, 2009 at 11:40 am
The pickle car is the best by far! Imagine crashing and getting to yell “Help, I’m in a pickle!”

Hands down it’s the bananamobile. I love how the cars go with the driver so well (well, except for maybe the mouse in the pickle car…)
It’s just classic Richard Scarry and the one I remember most from being a kid (and more recently, looking at the books with my son).
December 4th, 2009 at 11:50 am
I asked my 3.5 year old which his favorite car was, and he picked the carrot car from “Cars and Trucks and Things That Go”. When I asked him why, he said because it’s orange and there’s a bunny rabbit driving it. BTW, I was seriously excited to learn about this game from you. Thanks for the review!

The apple car is the best because apparently you can drive it just by thinking about where you want to go. There is no steering wheel and worms don’t have arms or legs. It would make texting and driving way safer. :)
December 4th, 2009 at 12:37 pm
Thanks for the review of the game! My 3 year-old would love it.
Her favorite is the pickle car, because it’s bumpy!
December 4th, 2009 at 1:03 pm
Oh, the pickle of course! Best ride in town…
December 4th, 2009 at 1:40 pm
I love the pencil car–stylish and practical!
December 4th, 2009 at 2:14 pm
I have to see that’s Lowly car is better, because he has a windshield, and I, for one, cannot stand to get bugs in my face, especially when they are approximately the same size as me! Thanks!
December 4th, 2009 at 2:30 pm
The banana car is better because it can “peel” away.
December 4th, 2009 at 2:51 pm
Definitely the apple car – it reminds me of that awesome apple baby toy I had when I was little – you know, the one that rocked and had chimes inside?
December 4th, 2009 at 3:18 pm
I was leaning towards the hot dog car until I thought of the disturbing implications of a pig driving a pork product.
So I have to say the egg car is my favorite of them. It answers so many questions: which came first, how the chicken crossed the road if not why…
December 4th, 2009 at 3:26 pm
The apple car has a windshield and the way things go in Richard Scarry’s books that’s a big asset.
December 4th, 2009 at 3:36 pm
I don’t know why, but somehow the fact that the hotdog car is covered in mustard makes it my favorite. It would be even better if it was a pretzel.
December 4th, 2009 at 3:54 pm
I like Lowly’s Apple car. It must be really easy to drive — since he doesn’t have hands and only has one foot/shoe! That will leave my hands free while driving.
December 4th, 2009 at 4:42 pm
The paintbrush car was always my favorite. Because you can drive, and paint a picture at the same time. And that’s awesome.
December 4th, 2009 at 5:39 pm
I’m partial to the zippermobile from Cars and Trucks A-Z because of the clever design (the pull tab on the zipper is the window through which the driver looks).
December 4th, 2009 at 7:26 pm
I’ll go with the “egg-mobile” because, in terms of messy crash superiority, it would be yuck-tastic.
December 4th, 2009 at 8:51 pm
Before I even had a chance to think of an answer, Wyatt spotted Busytown on my screen and came running over to ooh and ahh… I hadn’t said a WORD yet, and he said “I want to take the banana car out of the picture and eat it!”… So I guess the banana car gets our vote today :)
December 4th, 2009 at 9:00 pm
Bananas Gorrila’s banana car is better cuz he can just ‘peel’ out if the cops decide to track him down for engaging in his usual ‘monkeybusiness.’
Egg car is kinda cool too–it reminds me of the ‘popemobile.’ ha ha
December 4th, 2009 at 9:02 pm
Lowly Worm’s apple car because apples are so delicious!
December 4th, 2009 at 9:29 pm
Hands down Lowly’s apple car wins! Lowly is a wonderful friend to all and cute to boot! Besides he looks totally apple-liscious in that oh so practical “smart” vehicle….face it people, Lowly was way ahead of his time. He should have copyrighted the apple car design, because clearly the Smart car design that we know now began with the genius that is better know as Lowly the Worm!
December 4th, 2009 at 10:29 pm
I vote for the pickle car. It’s cool and fun, but mostly because it’s the exact color of my first car.
But I know that my daughter would like the rainbow pencilmobile best.
December 4th, 2009 at 11:12 pm
Banana Gorilla’s car is superior because in the Busy Town computer game I played when I was a kid, I remember it being in my favourite game. One of the other cool games featured a pick-up truck you drove around with the pig and delivered packages around the neighbourhood.
December 4th, 2009 at 11:42 pm
Lowly Worm’s apple car is the best, because he obviously operates it telepathically.
December 5th, 2009 at 5:39 am
I’ve always liked the apple car because of the pun involved. My son didn’t get it at 3, but he gets it now at 5 – so it’s like the books grow with him, you know? He finds something new to enjoy as he gets older. And my 3 yr old daughter doesn’t get it yet, except that it’s fun to look at. But it’ll be fun when it clicks for her.
December 5th, 2009 at 5:58 am
The egg car is the only one that you could possible fit a friend alongside you.
December 5th, 2009 at 6:18 am
The hot dog car is best because everyone in my house loves hot dogs.
December 5th, 2009 at 11:02 am
I asked my son – and he thought that Lowly’s apple car was superior. Lowly is a nice worm. Bananas Gorilla gets into trouble.
December 5th, 2009 at 12:16 pm
The worm’s apple car is the best by far! He’s safely tucked in there, and it’s a naturally right size for him.
December 5th, 2009 at 1:15 pm
I’m partial to the apple car. Perhaps it is because I taught school before my son was born. I ate an apple every day with my snack.
December 5th, 2009 at 2:45 pm
The pickle car is our favorite since it’s the same color as the car our dad drives.
December 5th, 2009 at 5:10 pm
Busy Town is great! Didn’t know there was a game for the Richard Scarry stuff. Corn car is best because it explodes in high heat (which would be fun to see)
December 5th, 2009 at 7:37 pm
The apple car so you don’t get wet when it rains silly!
December 5th, 2009 at 9:01 pm
The corn car must run on ethanol, right? I’ll choose that.
December 5th, 2009 at 9:10 pm
The rainbow pencil is the best because it can draw itself out of any jam…need a road? Okay, there it is!
December 5th, 2009 at 9:29 pm
The corn car is best, because it just plain looks the coolest to drive.
December 6th, 2009 at 7:24 am
That’s the only worm in an apple that isn’t disgusting, so I’d have to go with Lowly’s car!
December 6th, 2009 at 8:35 am
I like the egg car. It “cracks” me up. Hope I don’t lose due to punny humor.
December 6th, 2009 at 3:59 pm
The worm car is clearly better than the banana car. It’s all-weather. No bugs in the face, fear of bird poo, etc. I’m also assuming it’s got heating and air conditioning.
December 6th, 2009 at 7:22 pm
Well being a teacher I’m partial to apples. So Lowly’s car gets my vote.
December 6th, 2009 at 8:36 pm
The banana car is my son’s favorite; he’s a fan of the convertible look.
December 6th, 2009 at 9:08 pm
I like Lowly Worm’s apple car because it looks easier to park than the long banana car. I also like the tallness of the apple car because I can see farther when I sit up high.
December 6th, 2009 at 9:57 pm
Bananas Gorrila’s banana car is the best because my son loves it because he loves monkeys and he calls gorrila’s monkeys also…
