In photos: What I did last week

I made a Halloween mask two months early…

Photo of my 5-year-old daughter wearing a yellow paper mask with holes cut for the eyes, nose and mouth. An orange pumpkin is drawn on the mask along with the word Boo! Her arms are extended toward the camera with her hands extended in a clenching motion as if she's snarling for a grab.

I finally unwrapped that third place prize from the UFO contest

Photo of a small alien key chain held in my daughter's hand. It features big black sunglasses with its arms crossed while sitting in the top of a flying saucer.

I played with toilet paper tubes…

Photo of my 18-month-old son sitting down in front of our cardboard fort holding two toilet paper tubes near his face, blowing into one of them.

I trapped myself in Charmin handcuffs!

Photo of my son sitting in front of our cardboard fort looking dejected as his hands reside stuffed tightly inside two toilet paper tubes, resembling a very young double-amputee.

I went to kindergarten for the first time…

Photo of my daughter smiling while wearing a backpack. I added an arrow pointing to sunglasses residing in a backpack pocket and labeled the a dress code violation. A second arrorw points at her shirt with the label: pineapple luau shirt that Dad hates. The rebellion has begun.

I scored six goals before half-time on my soccer team, the Alien Brain Crunchers. My parents say we don’t count goals, but I do…

Photo of my daughter running with a soccer ball with a much taller boy from the opposing team next to her. Two other players from each team are in the background. My daughter's team uniform is bright green.

I got moved to my team’s other game because they needed the help…

Photo of my daughter running toward the soccer ball with a second teammate much further behind her.

I brought my team over to hunt for the tree frog my dad caught in the grass and released. The moms thought it was cute because our team is actually called the Tree Frogs. I like my dad’s name better.

Photo of my daughter standing with four of her teammates at the edge of the soccer field looking into a tall thicket of raspberry bushes.

I maxed out in my Pop-a-Tot with two water bottles…

Photo of my son standing on the soccer field sandwiched in our Pop-a-Tot canvas playyard cube that keeps him immobile in a standing position. He is holding his arms behind his head with a self-satisfied look. Two drink holders in the Pop-a-Tot are filled with metal water bottles.

I ate some yogurt…

Photo of my 18-month-old son downing a bowl of yogurt. One hand is holding the bowl to his lips and his face is completely obscured by the bowl.

I got confused. Sometimes my family laughs for no reason.

Photo of my son after he ate yogurt. White yogurt accents are visible in his hair while and he is sporting a yogurt goatee.

    Great photos!
Those last 2 need to be framed side by side.

I love the review in photos. I plan on doing something like this to add to our Christmas cards this year.

How adorable. How old was your daughter when she started soccer. I was thinking of getting my son into something but he is still 3 (will be 4 in December). Anyway, thanks for sharing. All the pictures are adorable.

Despite the rebellion, I’m sure you’re proud of your daughter for being herself and choosing what she wants – despite daddy’s opinions about the shirt. ^_^

    Thank you.

Mary, she was 4 when she started soccer. It’s a league requirement. Kids under 6 are grouped together, and rather poorly I might add. Last year we were a mostly 4-year-old team and played quite a few almost-6-year-olds. My daughter didn’t care though.

I love seeing funny pictures of real kids with snarky comments added by a loving parent. We have a similar series of yogurt-eating pictures of my youngest. :)

That is a truly terrifying monster mask. Kudos. We make a lot of impromptu masks chez moi as my four year-old is a lover of all things spooky. I always find. though, that there is nothing suitable to use as a strap. Elastic would do the trick but who’s got that lying around? And dental floss — let me tell you – does not work well.
