I may get flamed here, but I believe if you’re collecting Social Security, you should have to pass regular driver’s tests. Age-related illnesses are a reality, be it poor vision or a heart condition. Living near Los Angeles, I was horrified by the story of an elderly gentleman plowing into the Santa Monica Farmer’s Market on a Saturday morning. If you’re diabetic, they restrict, or sometimes refuse altogether, your driver’s license. Why not old age?

I’m wondering now what the AARP’s response to this story would be…sometimes, folks, the driver’s license is best surrendered to the DMV- lobby, or no lobby.

The old lady who lives to attack again is going to be featured in my nightmares this week….Tighltly permed lilac hair, hunched over the steering wheel, hands gripping tightly, feral look in her eyes which barely top the dashboard and notches gouged into her seatbelt—”"heh, heh…two points for the pregnant lady.
