Winners: The Joy of Childhood Photo Contest
Thank you to everyone who shared a photo of their child having fun for The Joy of Childhood photo contest. I know it was a dreary task that brought back horrible memories, but you somehow survived.
And now, the prizes…

Five winners are taking home a Robbert Bobbert and the Bubble Machine children’s music CD. Read our review.
One grand prize winner is taking home a party-in-a-box:
- One Funrise Toys’ Gazillion Bubble Machine (a rite of childhood)
- One Robbert Bobbert and the Bubble Machine CD
- Ten coloring pages
The grand prize…. Amy from Springfield, Missouri… Hers is the seemingly ordinary, yet classic playground slide photo. Playgrounds are the great unifier — tremendous fun and yet free for everyone… accessible from the earliest moments when Mom or Dad is willing to climb up there and plop a baby on their lap for the ride down. I love the static cling on his hair.

The five runners-up…
Rebecca from Zionsville, Indiana… Only a toddler would smile while being sucked into the fourth dimension.

Blair from Cary, Illinois… I’m sorry, it’s too late. That portion of the lawn is dead.

Stacey… stylistically this is a documentarian photo, but I couldn’t escape the fact that a part of the joy of childhood is taking carefree risks. Stacey is a shoe-in if we ever hold a The Pains of Childhood photo contest.

Julianne from Brooklyn, New York… At what age does claustrophobia become reality? This kid is a caver in the making.

Sandy from Olympia, Washington… On the one hand, having fun with a sibling. On the other hand, a brief window in time where the innocence of childhood persists (you won’t be taking photos like this one in a few short years).

And now, all the other wonderful submissions…
Adele…

Amanda…

Ashley…

Cynthia…

Erin…

Hope…

Mayra…

Melissa…

Michelle…

Sara…

Twanna…

Dayna…

Erika…

Jennifer…

Kathleen…

Kerri…

Shannon…

Tracy…

Thanks for participating!

What a day brightner! I have no idea how you managed to pick a winner. I loved the one with the dog, snow white, the birds, the striped jammies..ok I loved them all. Can you please hold this contest daily? :D

Cute photos!
I was a little surprised to see my daughter here though, since I thought I had submitted her photo for the sleepy baby contest, way back when. I was wondering why her picture didn’t show up when you posted those ones. Oh well, it made for a fun surprise!

Kerri, your photo was e-mailed last month, so maybe you accidentally submitted it to an expired contest. We held a Bedtime Photo Contest in December.

Now, as for the photo, we could debate what is a larger joy of childhood … teddy bears or sucking thumbs.

I don’t think it is teddy bears or sucking thumbs, I think the greater joy of childhood is pajamas with feet.

Oh, that explains it! This is an exciting new development with my e-mail. I sent a bunch of messages months ago that were just received by the recipients. It’s really weird to get a reply to a message that you thought you had sent ages ago. I really did send it back in December, it just didn’t get to you until last month. Isn’t technology great!
Thanks for letting me know. Now I know why it didn’t show up when I expected!
