My wife has had her vacuum for appro. two years and likes the performance of it. The only problem we have with it is that it is broke and appears to be unrepairable. Let me explain. The plastic housing the handle slips into has broke of fairly flush with the main trunk coming up from the base. Before you think it my wife does not abuse her vacuum, she only has three carpeted rooms she vacuums. I have tried the strongest bonding agent i can find to bond it together,but the pressure of pushing and pulling on the handle it would not hold up.The vacuum run good i just think the design of two split plastic pieces holding the handle on causes aweak point for the handle to break.

Martha, I can only speak of my own experience. We have a dark blue carpet that is 19+ years old (from the previous homeowner). Aside from some wear in the doorways, it’s holding up strong. I’ve vacuumed once a week since 2007 and between the old Halo and the new Oreck Halo, my carpet hasn’t faded.

I just ordered it. I was in temporary shock about the price too – thinking i could just get an good vacuum and cans of Lysol to kill germs. However, the folks at Oreck have this monthly payment plan, no app, no interest which was in large part why I got it. I got kids who roll around on the carpet a lot and we easily dispose of 40 bucks a month on entertainment – I thought it better to invest it for a year in germ killing so we can sit and chill in our living room w/o the thought of rolling around in e coli – staph and swine flu. I’m at ease. :)

I’ve been looking for a review on the Oreck Halo–thanks so much. It looks like the Oreck folks have made the improvements on this vacuum that I felt were missing on the Oreck I owned about 4 yrs ago. I’m sold–as an animal lover who lives in the country (and I love it!) I need this machine. I’m getting one!

I just purchased the Halo. LOVE IT. I have 3 cats and even with frontline (for fleas) we are still finding them in the house. They get on us outside and WE bring them in…not so much the cats.

I have noticed a big difference with the dust in the air too.

Its also great on kitchen floor…turn off beater bar!!!!

Buy it…you’ll love it too

i purchased the newest model of halo from overstock.com it appears to be near identical to the oreck halo and not near the price only difference is the lenght of warranty

I love my Halo.My Mom’s and my carpets are alot cleaner. We both sleep better.I can tell the air is already cleaner. Thank You David Oreck I give it a 5 Star+
