What toddlers can teach us about ancient cultures

Photo of my daughter peeking over the edge of a plate where a half-eaten hummus wrap has been placed on end in the center of the plate and six grape halves have been placed in a circle around the hummus wrap.

Dad: “Is this used for tracking the movements of celestial objects, to predict the solstice and establish a calendar for sowing and harvesting crops in the coming year?”

Daughter: “It’s for beauty.”

Reminds me of The Little Prince, the snake and the elephant, of “matters of consequence” and the like.
