Fame or Shame Game #9: Stained by Design
Last August I wrote a spoof article, Casual wear for casual dads, presenting baby spit-up as a fashion statement for fathers. I still hold out hope that such a glaring apocalyptic omen will come to pass (just so I can say I told you so), but until then, we have the following product…
My Dirty Birdie by Progeny, Inc. is a line of baby one-piece outfits, bibs and shirts (up to 6T) containing stain-like blotches. Each one also contains a circular white emblem containing a drawing and a description. For example, a one-piece baby outfit with red stains has icons for strawberries, cherries and prunes. A shirt with dirt-like stains displays a toy wagon with the message, “This is my dirt haulin’ shirt.”
“Just so you get the gist – my own dirty birdie was the inspiration behind this line as well – because I was SO TIRED of all of her bibs being stained by the jar foods she was eating. When she went through her sweet-potato-lovin’ phase, not only did she turn a wee bit orange (seriously how come no one told me that could happen?) but so did all of her bibs. From there – the Onesies and tees were a natural extension.”
I invite you, dear Thinga-reader, to tell us why this inventor is destined for fame, or shame.
