I'm not sure I would have "got" the uberstix, if it wasn't for my husband. I don't have much patience for such things, but my daughter took the ball and ran with it. It was a life saver during the first days of the fires when I was trying to figure out how threatened we were, because she was constantly entertained building with them.

Okay, I'm a little confused with the LaborKit, too. Maybe it was just my hospital, but a good many of the items on that list were provided BY THE HOSPITAL - diapers, sanitary pads, peri bottle... even the notepad and pen. I guess it would make a thoughtful gift.

There was once an Ed Emberly Dr. Doodles bandage kit which included brightly colored shaped (circle, square, rectangle) bandages, some kind of marker and a little book that showed how to change the bandage shapes into doodle/drawings like in the Ed Emberly books.

Ok just had to comment on the labor kit. THANK YOU CARDS?! Seriously? Who are you going to write thank you cards to during or right after birth? If you are going to a hospital to give birth don't they usually provide you with things like sanitary pads, mesh underwear and peri bottles? Where is the stuff you could actually use in labor? At least a hot/cold pack?
