Winners #31, #32 and #33
"MoJo" from Freshwater, California has won Scholastic’s Diary of a Spider DVD
that includes read-along captioning for kids learning to read. It’s
adapted from the original book by Doreen Cronin, illustrated by Harry
Bliss, and now narrated by Angus T. Jones.
Other stories on the DVD include Roberto the Insect Architect, Norman
the Doorman, The Mysterious Tadpole and The Story of the Dancing Frog.
Whoah, MoJo is my first local-to-me winner. What makes Freshwater great for raising kids? MoJo reports that raccoons inspect the family’s trash. Okay, I guess that beats bird watching from the front window.
"Jennifer" from Lakeside, California takes home Red Grammer’s Down the Do Re Mi, one of Red’s six wonderful act-out sing-along children’s albums.

What makes her town special for kids? Jennifer reports, "I live in San Diego
county! The specific
area I live in is old country: horses, farm living, lots of land to
run around in and really stay in touch with the ‘old’ American
Danny Lapidus and Francisco Cotto produce sophisticated children’s
tunes in English and Spanish. You may recognize ‘Different Spokes’ in
recent rotation on the Noggin’ Network.
Nancy reports on the one special thing about her town: "My town is extremely family friendly. The recreation department has
sports year round, including clinics during the summer for every
sport. There are trips to local amusements (in northern NJ
there’s a lot in a few hours drive), a street fair sponsored by the
Rotary, the fire department throws a carnival every June (it’s this
week, in fact), there are a few parades during the year and
fireworks on the Fourth. There is no shortage of things to do
