Two Updates to Prior Posts
1. Do you remember David Crawford, the dad who penned that awesome ditty, Pachelbel Bedtime?
I checked in with David…
"A lot has happened since posting that little Youtube video. I would have never imagined (perhaps a testament to my lack of imagination and
ignorance of the communicative power of the internet) I would be
spending my free time this year putting together songs about family and
relationships for a CD, but it’s true. I did an interview with a
Detroit radio station and that’s where SWC Films [a production company] heard about the song.
They contacted me and we are hoping to have a CD ready to go by the
end of 2008. Thanks for your support and encouragement."
And here’s a lovely demonstration by comedian Rob Paravonian of Pachelbel’s Canon in D used in various commonly recognized songs .
2. Do you recall Randy Pausch, the Carnegie Mellon University professor with terminal cancer who gave a lecture about Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams? It’s really a talk intended for his children.
The update is that his lecture has been adapted to a book, The Last Lecture, released last week. Meanwhile, Carnegie Mellon has the entire 76 minute presentation on Youtube now. It’s much better than the chunked versions that have been floating around. Various extra links are available at CMU.
