Thinga-Appreciation Giveaway #2 — Baby and Toddler Hair Accessories!

This contest has concluded. Winners were announced here: week 1, week 2, week 3, week 4. Thanks for participating on Thingamababy.

Now, the original contest text…

Holy smokes! It’s a second contest running behind-the-scenes (the first one is still going, too!).

Collage of 3 styles of baby and toddler hair clips featuring flowers and dragonflies, and one teddy bear style ponytail holder by Lil' Sugarplum.

Lil’ Sugarplum will be giving away baby or toddler hair accessories each week to an unsuspecting Thingamababy participant. Don’t have a baby girl? Give a friend a present, or throw the pregnancy dice again.

This is about reader appreciation. To enter, simply read and post comments as you normally do anywhere on Thingamababy (full details below). I will select one user who has posted a comment within the past week as a winner (the first winner gets picked next Saturday).

The winner then selects one hair clip or ponytail holder from the Lil’ Sugarplum website that retails for $7 or $8. Due to variations in how accessories are grouped, that could score you one or several items.

Lil’ Sugarplum hair clips were reviewed on Thingamababy a year ago to my delight. Finally a hair clip that stays in my daughter’s hair all day!

Since then, Monique, the stay-at-home-mom behind Lil’ Sugarplum, has gone crazy creating a bizillion styles of clips, ponytail holders, headbands, stick-on bows and scarves. She is even scoring celebrity product placements with the likes of Brooke Burke and Jason Priestly and donating 2 percent of every sale to the March of Dimes.

Giveaway Rules

The contest is open to residents inside and outside* the United States. *Residents of the International Space Station excluded. Sorry Peggy, Yuri, Clayton, Daniel, Leopold, Garrett and Sheikh, but we’ll be happy to ship to your domestic address in the event you win.

The contest will run for four weeks, and who knows, maybe longer.

Officially, the winner will be selected by me based on my own purely subjective criteria that is free to change from week to week. For the first week, I will choose a winner at random. If I see a rush of empty-headed comments being posted, I’ll change the criteria to a true sense of my personal appreciation, using comment criteria such as thoughtfulness, educational value or humor.

To be eligible, users must include a valid e-mail address in their blog comment. Contacted winners must provide their shipping address to Thingamababy and Lil’ Sugarplum for the purpose of shipping the prize. Ineligible comments are ones identified as spam by my blog software or that I would normally delete myself due to their spammy or offensive nature.

Giveaway Schedule

Each of these first four giveaways are for user comments posted Saturday through Friday (Pacific Time) on any blog article anywhere on

  • Giveaway #1: comments posted between March. 8 and 14.
  • Giveaway #2: comments posted between March 15 and 21.
  • Giveaway #3: comments posted between March 22 and 28.
  • Giveaway #4: comments posted between March 29 and April 4.

Thanks for reading Thingamababy, and participating!

Thanks, AJ and Lil Sugarplum! My daughter has fine hair and some clips just slip on out. I’m always up for the chance to try something new (and cute) for her.

My two and a half year old has the hair of a newborn…we call it the Dr. Phil. Very short on top and wavy/curly at the back. Most clips also slip out of her hair! I can get a little pebbles-type ponytail at the top with those teensy rubber elastics.

These look great! My daughter is only 10 months old but was born with a full head of hair and we’ve already had to get it cut once. My son was mostly bald until he was 2 so this is all new territory for us….

  6. Amber says:

Great! Those look like some cute hair accessories. Unfortunately my daughter is a little baldie at 9 months old. If we win, guess we’ll have to put them up for a year or two.

  8. Carrie says:

But do they make hairclips that somehow tell the toddler “Please leave me in your hair, because I am ever so pretty and want to stay here for all to see!” ?

That would be the perfect accessory!

My sweet girl lets me put them in her hair, then takes them out and puts them on her daddy’s somewhat hair-challenged head and tells him “Pretty”

Once again I have a daughter whose bangs grow faster than the rest of her hair. As much fun as trimming bangs with safety scissors is it’d be much cuter to put them back with a cute clip. The big sister is a hoarder and any attempt to use her clips (or clothes or toys) ends up looking like the scene from Cinderella when the stepsisters remove their items from Cindy’s dress. Baby sister needs some of her own clips.

There are some great styles of hair clips at lil’ sugarplum. Too bad my niece hates having her hair done. Maybe she would if she got to choose the clips.

I LOVE Lil Sugarplum hair accessories. I have purchased several of Monique’s hair clip designs for my daughter. They are all adorable, and they stay put in my daughters hair. I would definitely recommend any of the products!!

Thanks for the contest. I checked those clips out way back when you reviewed them. That is great that she is donating to the March for Babies. I work in the NICU so I know how that makes a difference. Thanks again AJ.

What a great giveaway! my little girl was born with so much hair, we need clips to keep it out of her eyes!

  18. Tim says:

My wife has been frustrated in her attempts to pull back our 11-month old daughter’s very fine, ever lengthening hair. I know she’s tried other velcro hair clips. Will these be different?

    March 12th, 2008 at 6:19 am

  19. Nicki says:

My baby girl was born with TONS of fine hair. I’m hoping these can hold it back so I don’t have to cut it!!!

    March 13th, 2008 at 10:56 am

  20. Lindsay says:

Clips like these would be great for my daughter – although she doesn’t have alot of hair, she has enough for the tiny baby clips … and they sure would help “complete” her outfits and show her off as a girl!

  21. Megan Lesser says:

This is my first child, and I’m so proud of my little girl. She’s still pretty shiny on top, but I’m hoping and praying for some hair soon! I am so excited for the days of braids and curls and these clips are fantastic! I can’t get enough of them.

  22. Trisha C says:

Thanks for the fun giveaways I’ve made clips very similar myself but w/o the velcro- that’s such a great idea!
I would so love to give these a try:)
