I bought this at a second hand store and it has`been quite popular. It only came with the guy features so I made others out of felt. My daughter just turned 2. She likes wrapping scarves around him. It is a fun creative toy. It is too bad it has been discontinued.

I want one for my daughter (okay, for me too!)

My wife is disturbed by it.

I see the following advantages to that design:
1) Ease of piece insertion - my 2.5yo daughter gets frustrated when she can't slide the pieces into their plastic whole ... some are tighter then others in the beginning. And then of course, when the pieces get worn down, they don't stay in place!

2) Why be limited by the 9 (I think?) wholes for place placement. Why shouldn't a kid be able to create a Picasso-potato!?

I like the idea of baby being able to play with the toy on the playmat rather than scrubbing the hard plastic pieces around on the fridge, but even the pieces of the old style were a little small for the child under 3 years of age.

As a potato head collector, I do have this one. It was sold in america, maybe 7-10 years ago? It wasn't very popular. I also have the larger inflatable version which also has velcro parts... also not popular and also discontinued.
