Review: KORALL Baby Fish Mobile by IKEA

Two photos of a baby mobile featuring six dangling colorful fabric fish. One photo shows a side view, the other shows a baby's view of the smiling fish.

IKEA’s KORALL fish baby mobile designed by Annika Grottell doesn’t look geeky, but it is. When I asked Thinga-readers to identify this mobile from a screen capture of a Doctor Who episode (Gridlock, third episode of the third season of the revived series with David Tennant), Thinga-reader Martina had the answer before sunrise.

There’s not much to say about this gem. It’s about 15 inches long and has an 8 inch diameter. It’s an ideal mobile if you happen to find yourself living in your hover van for 12 years and have a bunch of babies that resemble kittens.

Of course my wife doesn’t like the mobile, but my mother gave it to me as a Christmas gift. Yay!

I love this mobile. My pediatrician has this in one of her exam rooms
and it’s the only thing that calms my daughter when she is about to get
a vaccine. It’s eerie. Thank you Ikea!

We have this mobile! My husband and I were totally geeked when we saw it in an episode of Doctor Who.

I like it because it is so light weight that I didn’t have to worry much about my son yanking it down. It also reminds me of the Dr. Seuss book one fish two fish red fish blue fish. :)

I think the best part is that it’s designed with the kids POV in mind rather than the parents like so many mobiles. Awesome!

We didn’t use a mobile, but if I had known about this one, we very well might have.
