Film Trailer: Martian Child
Haven’t you asked yourself, "Hey self, what kind of movie would be made if the guy who wrote The Trouble with Tribbles wrote a science fiction story and it won a Nebula award and a Hugo award and it got turned into a screenplay and it was really a parenting story that just seemed like science fiction?" Yeah, me too!
Martian Child is a novelette by David Jerrold that is now a film starring John Cusack and some other people blah blah blah.
I’ve not read the story, but the kicker for me is that it appears to be a solid drama about a single science fiction writer who wants to adopt a troubled boy who spends his time hiding in a box pretending to be a Martian. According to Wikipedia, the story is loosely based on Jerrold’s own experience adopting a child as a single parent.
It hits the screens November 2nd. Time to call the babysitter…
Bonus: Read an excerpt of Martian Child. Buy it on Amazon or maybe visit a real book store.

You should read the story. It’s one of my favorites. I will be posting my feature article about David Gerrold in the next week or so. I don’t post them until after they’ve appeared in the newspaper, but Iike how it turned out and my editor loved it.
