Video: What do Teachers Really Make?
I’m a bit under the weather today. Here’s a nice pro-teacher video clip to enjoy. It’s Taylor Mali, a high school teacher and slam-poet, performing his piece titled, “What do Teachers Really Make?”
You can also read the full-text of the poem, or listen to a Real Media version or MP3 version. None of them have the feeling of his life performance video clip though.
Taylor’s online store has a couple interesting gifts for teachers… a pen that contains the full text of the What do Teachers Really Make poem on a roll-out banner, and a box of 144 mini-golf pencils (with erasers!) that are imprinted with the message, “I Stole This Pencil From The Best Teacher Ever!”
Taylor’s web site has other poem samples. A couple other Youtube finds are his poem Totally Like Whatever as lip-synced by a teen, and a movie trailer for Slam Nation, which I expect I’ll be renting on DVD soon.
