Baby Girl Nickname Contest

This contest has ended. Thanks for participating!
The winner taking home a $25 gift certificate for Lil’ Sugarplum hair accessories is… Kristen from Romeo, Michigan. Thank you to Monique of Lil’ Sugarplum for sponsoring the contest.
These are the top ten names as selected by my wife:
- Doodle Bug (from Kristen)
- Bright Eyes (from TaMi)
- Fancy Pants (from Chelsea)
- Lovebug (from Randa Clay, Stephanie, MorningSong, Jeanie Wilby)
- Silly Girl (from Becky)
- Poquita Senorita (from Liz)
- Pollywog (from Rachel)
- Petite Mademoiselle (from Adriana)
- Contessa (from Chris)
- Deuce (from Jessica G. Naomi)
For posterity, below are the contest rules and all of the submitted baby nicknames.
Let’s suppose my wife is pregnant with a baby girl. No, I’m not making an announcement. We’re talking a hypothetical. What nickname would I use when blogging about that child?
Submit your best baby girl blogger nicknames, three maximum, via the comment form located at the bottom of this article. For example, my existing daughter’s nickname is Little Miss. You may explain the reasoning or background of the name(s) you submit, but it’s not required.
The contest ends 11:59 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2007.
Be sure to include a valid e-mail address (it won’t be published, but will be used to contact the winner)!
One inventive submitter will win a $25 gift certificate for Lil’ Sugarplum, a mom-based company making and selling hair clips, bobby pins, headbands, ponytail holders, baby scarves, hair clip holders and more. Read Thingamababy’s review of a dragonfly hair clip.
A single winning nickname will be selected by my wife. Don’t try to guess the name I would like. I very well could hate the name my wife selects. Follow your own inspiration.
It is possible multiple people will submit similar nicknames conveying the same ideas and/or using similar words. If anyone feels cheated by the winning nickname, sorry, but you are subject to the whims of my wife’s brain.
After you enter this contest, enter our baby caption contest to win a Fort-a-ma-jig (the coolest fort building toy on the planet).

If one is “Little Miss”, then the other can be “Mistletoe”.
As a second daughter, small, bright and sparkly, you could call her “Sequin”.

“Meep!” (you know, the little mac noise!)
I just love to bounce around saying that.

We called our daughter Bubble Toes in reference to the Jack Johnson song (not super appropriate for kids, but catchy and I love the line about moving like a jellyfish, which is evocative of a baby floating in embryonic fluid) and the bubble like appearance of fetal toes.
Variations now include:
Bubble Baby
Bubbalicious
and Baby Toes

We called my son Spud, so when it came time for my daughter…Nugget! We even got an autographed CD just for her from Amos Lee (a great musician who opened for Norah Jones!) You should have seen his face…LMAO

My first daughter was “butterbean” and my second (much larger baby girl) is “butterball.” Come on, that is funny!
The name I recommend?
Deuce
It honors the inevitable second-child syndrome. You could call her Lil’ Deuce but it sounds like potty humor…

Shortcake…
At out baby shower, they played trivia and one of the questions was what are little girls made of? The correct answer…sugar, spice and everything nice. My wife’s answer…little girls are made of shortcake.

We call our (3 month) daughter home fry. My wife started it, I’m not sure why.
Sometimes when we’re feeling fancy she’s ‘Maison Frite’
June 20th, 2007 at 2:15 pm
We refered to our first as OLA (Our Little Angle) it was our code word for the first trimester. Since we didn’t find out the sex before hand it was universal.
June 20th, 2007 at 2:34 pm
Here are two more we used for one of our daughters:
Booty (for her butt and because she’s our treasure)
Raisin (for raison d’etre)
June 20th, 2007 at 3:56 pm
Miss Sue (”And how ’bout you?”)
Little Grizzie (”Oh we’re so busy!”)
Charles Wellington (”Hello down there, Charles Wellington.”)
I like how most of the names coming from males are playfully derogatory, hating to do diapers, and the ones from women are intensely evocative of nearly the same emotion, but one which I don’t completely understand.
Erm… not to generalize.

We have way too many. As a joke I called me wife Schmoopy. Before the baby was born we called her Baby Schmoopy. Then came the flood:
Baby-Head, Littlest Baby, Squishy Face, Smooshy Head, Mommie (basic Latino), Naked Baby (before Bath), Lady T.
Wait ’til the triplets come… I already call them the Triad. Mom calls them the Alpha-Bits (A B C).

My partner and I referred to our ‘lil one as;
Bump – because she was a bump on mums tummy
and
Boof – because she kept going ‘Boof boof boof’ and kicking and generally thrashing around
We still call her Bump now (she is 19 months) when she is being cute and adorable (bum in the air face down sleeping, or being all cuddly and the like)
(I feel the need to mention that her official name is Amelia ;) )

LittleBritches (from Disney’s “The Jungle Book”)
Herself (some Irish heritage is responsible for that)

I see that several people have suggested “Little Sis” I thought of this too simply because you are used to typing “Little Miss” and it would be an easy transition. Our household favorites are Kumquat, Miss LaRue (it’s time to poo), and Pollywog
