Three Observations from Yesterday

Photo of our cat in a baby wrap.

This sling was made in the style of the Maya Wrap, the carrier we used for our Little Miss. Check out The Baby Wearer web site for general information about wraps and slings.

Incidentally, I didn’t doctor the photo. That is indeed a neon blue house you see in the background.

#1 My wife made a wrap baby carrier and tested it out by inserting Brown, one of our two cats. Brown didn’t purr, but she didn’t meow or struggle either. The cat seemed to take it in stride for a good 10 minutes. I snapped this photo right before Mom walked to the corner mailbox.

Did I mention Brown has lived her entire 7 years of life indoors? About 20 feet from the house the cat emptied her bladder all over Mom.

#2 While cleaning the cat in the bath tub, Mom realized we haven’t clipped the cat’s nails for a while. This realization came when a claw became embedded in her arm and neither she nor the cat could immediately remove it. There were a number of additional scratches in the ensuing melee. Afterward, with Mom bent over in pain, our almost-3-year-old daughter put her arm around her mother, and while rubbing her shoulder, said, "Mama, I’m here for you if you need me."

The cat is fine, too, by the way.

#3 I overheard loudly my daughter last night in the bathroom… "Mama, my poop looks like your sweater."
