Shrinkage: Cadbury Creme Eggs
Here’s my favorite Easter topic: Cadbury Creme Eggs. I eat them in vast quantities every year, but this year they seemed much smaller, yet the price was the same, or possibly a few cents more than last year. I swore off the eggs, too disgusted to buy one.
Have the eggs really changed size? Was it all in my mind? Cadbury Schweppes states the following in a FAQ on its web site:
Why has the size of the egg changed?
It hasn’t – you’ve just grown up!
But wait! Actor BJ Novak ("Ryan" on NBC’s The Office) is a Cadbury fanatic who buys surplus eggs and freezes them for eating year-round. He presented conclusive, damning proof of the Cadbury Schweppes deception and cover-up in the following Late Night with Conan O’Brien segment.

Thank you Cadbury Schweppes for making it easier for me to eat healthier this Easter. I am now in the market for a new Easter candy for ritual gorging. And no, I won’t consider Marshmallow Peeps.
Yeah, this post is officially off-topic. My Little Miss gets no candy at Halloween and Easter. We fill her eggs with stickers and coins. She sticks the coins in her Big Belly Bank.
My mother didn’t eat chocolate until age 5 because her mother told her she was allergic and would die. The jig was up when she "accidentally" tasted some.
