Really easy to use, my 4 year old son was using it straight away, taking pictures, browsing through the pictures and deleting the ones he didn't want with ease. However, the picture quality is terrible, distorted and blurred images. I certainly wouldn't want to print one and frame it for display. In my opinion, this camera is a blatant rip-off. A Vivitar 5Mp camera can be purchased for literally half the price which would produce superior quality pictures, but of course probably wouldn't survive too many drops onto a hard surface, which is the main reason why I bought the Fisher-Price one. I just don't think it costs an extra £45 to enclose a cheap quality inferior camera costing £5 into a chunky ruberized case!

Does anyone know who the discovery kids camera (very similar to fisher price as far as being same size and built to be drop/break resistant) compares to this Fisher Price one? I have been torn in deciding whether to buy a camera for this christmas or wait since my grand daughter is only 2. Any thoughts of knowledge of the discovery kids camera would be appreciated.

I personally think they built it for durabilaty, and durable it is.she has droped it many times, still works.people its a camera for kids and i really don't think a three or four year old needs anything more. Its to get them interested and that has certainly worked for my grandaughter.I'm happy

My daughter just turned 3, and she has been obsessed with taking photos. I got her the camera yesterday and as happy as she was, I was very disappointed. This camera eats the batteries within a few minutes!!! I would end up spending as much money on batteries weekly as I spent on buying the camera. It's too bad because I was looking forward to her having her own camera and not using my cell phone or my digital camera to take photos of her shoes, the door and the chair...Please, make this camera with better battery durabilty!!! =-)

I wish I found this site before Christmas. I did not do my homework before we bought the camera figuring it was Fisher Price it would be good. What a joke! A waste of hard earned money! The pictures are very poor even taken by an adult. The batteries run out so fast it is not worth it to keep using it. It has cost more in batteries than the $70 to buy it in the first place. Is there anywhere to complain to Fisher Price or does is even matter? Suck up the $70 I guess and move on. Will definately think twice the next time.

I actually like looking at the pictures taken on this camera. My wife does children's programs at her business (mostly 3-6 yr olds) and will have the camera out occasionally for the kids to use.
It is fun to see what they have taken pictures of. I even ended up putting a gallery of them online at http://www.creativeworksforchildren.com/photo_gallery_childrens.htm

It has taken some heavy abuse for over two years now and still works fine. While the pictures aren't perfect, the camera should be judged for what it is-just a toy. I don't think she paid over $50 for it.

To hear parents say they want a high res expensive camera so their toddlers can take great pictures is kind of sad. At that age they should just be having fun, not being taught how to compose pictures. Out of the hundreds of children that have used my wife's camera I don't recall hearing of any of them complaining about the picture quality, the lcd screen quality or anything else about the camera.

we got this camera, the blue one, for our son for christmas this year. he loves it. and for a three year old, it's fine for him. the pictures aren't the best but what do you expect from a 50 dollar camera. part of the fun is just seeing what he's shooting. when he's older he can get a better camera. people shouldn't expect a kids camera to take superb pictures. it's not going to happen, and anyone who says they will spend 200-300 on a good kids tough camera is crazy. kids need cameras that will take the abuse. they aren't publishing them in a magazine.

My 4 year old has one she got last year from her aunt for christmas. She likes it but I have a few complaints:

- needs special drivers for downloading the pics. Would have been nice to have it Just Work like most other digital cameras.

- picture quality is terrible.

That same Christmas, my sister-in-law was going to get this same camera for my then 6-year old (just turning 7). I bought him a $100 nikon coolpix instead of the $70 fisher price. He's taken care of it and still takes lots of pictures that look great. So I'd say by the time they're 5 or 6 and know enough to not just purposely toss it on the floor, spend a little extra and get a *huge* increase in quality.

I would really love to see a version of this camera with improved firmware and improved picture quality. But my guess is that if/when that happens my 4 year old will be getting close to where I can let her use a real camera anyway.

The Good: It's a durable and waterproof box.

The bad: Pictures are very poor and the camera can eat batteries in 10 minutes, batteries are not the big issue but explaining to your toddler that the camera doen't work soon after he/she starts to play with it get old. Don't buy! Get a point and shoot on ebay that can recharge for cheap.
