I just stumbled upon this article in your archives and I came up with one possible good reason to have something like this. You go out for the evening, leaving your child with a babysitter. Wouldn’t having something like this potentially alert you to anything wrong that the sitter may be doing? Like letting your child cry for an over extended period of time? It is probably something overly paranoid parents might find useful. Otherwise, I completely agree that having your phone called is pretty darn useless for a baby monitor.

Okay, if you live in an apt building and your laundry area is not in your unit, this might be more useful than a monitor.

Do deaf people use cell phones? Some of your comments are down right insensitive. Get with the times, cell phones are used for much more than just talking i.e. texting, so yes, deaf people use cell phones!!! As per the comment by Stacey – you were headed for humour – really?!?!

Found u looking for baby monitor for deaf people. I’m an aunt and yes, deaf people do use cell phones. In fact, it has been a very liberating technology for us. Appreciate you’re headed for humor, but on purpose I found while looking would really come in handy if Philips would do it. Wrist monitor. Take kid to park, evil person snatches kid, kid can use wrist monitor to signal cell phone where they’re at…gives product use from infancy through…(heck) teen years (ha).
