Photo: Canine Nanny Takes Baby for a Stroll

I’m on a history kick, pouring over photographs in the Library of Congress American Memory collection.

Black and white photo of a dog pushing an old style baby carriage with a baby insideHere we see a dog, Jack the Comet, pushing a baby stroller on a Chicago sidewalk. Why? Visit the Chicago Historical Society, browse through its archive of the Chicago Daily News for the year 1929 on microfiche and let us all know. I’d really like to know.

Hey, anyone notice that the LOC’s American Memory collection is a bit absent-minded?
