&lt;p&gt;A very simple, though less adorable, solution to the barrettes-everywhere problem is a ribbon tied to something (anything!) or stapled to a bulletin board.  I&#039;d go with 1/2&quot; to 3/4&quot; grosgrain, cut to a length you&#039;re happy with.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;We have all the barrettes too -- I know for a fact there are two purple ones under the front seat of the car -- but my daughter won&#039;t let us fix her hair.  Sigh.&lt;/p&gt;
