Fair enough. I suppose I also wouldn't enjoy my daughter looking up to Christina Aguilera or Brittney Spears.

At some point, in her teen years, she'll be mature enough that I won't worry so much what she's exposed to. But, Bratz are aimed at six-year-olds and that's an age where I am concerned about the superficial appearance of a modern role model doll.

A pirate Anne Bonny and a rockstar Bratz doll are both used for fantasy play, but Anne Bonny I can couch in an historical, educational context. I'm not sure what I could use Bratz for except to reinforce pop culture. That's the root issue. I am at odds with pop culture. Parents who buy Bratz dolls probably embrace pop culture.

I understand to each their own although it is funny people who don't like the Bratz.. some will be (myself included) liking a Cleopatra and an Anne Bonny doll. The storyline of the Bratz does not involve anything like the lives of those ladies. The Bratz start a band and a magazine and wear make-up and fashions people frown upon. They have never wrecked nations and murdered men using their feminine wiles :)

I should explain that the reason I dread Little Miss wanting a Bratz doll is that in trying to define why I hate the dolls I had to learn the distinction between a wh0re and a h00ker. In case you're wondering, "wh0re" is a more fitting descriptor.

(Zer0es were added because I don't relish the traffic I receive from people conducting perverse searches related to kids.)
