Store Preview: Oriental Trading Company
The Oriental Trading Company is a mail-order and web-based store selling tons of plastic kiddie trinkets and other wonderment.
When we made our wedding a costume party, we used Oriental Trading for a few of our wedding supplies. We anticipated fuddy-duddies coming in their normal dress clothes, so we stocked up on hats and other oddball items and didn’t let the curmudgeons enter until they were appropriately dressed.
They carry all sorts of stuff. Need party favors for a birthday party? A search for "bubbles" turns up more than 200 hits in their party section. I like the Pirate Bubble Bottles, 24 for $5.95. Shopping with Oriental Trading is sometimes like shopping at Costco. A lot of the products are sold in bulk.
Get some toddler one-on-one time this Thanksgiving with some craft projects. Make a Tree of Thanks or color a message for your Give Thanks Snow Globe (with a little ingenuity it can be reused for other holidays).
Planning for Christmas? Why not surprise junior in your inflatable nylon Santa costume? (I have one, though I wear it on Halloween.) Or maybe equip the family with plush jester Santa hats. (We have those, too.)
If you like the web site, you need the catalog. It’s far easier and faster to leaf through the pages, and you’ll receive several catalogs throughout the year (themed for various holidays).
P.S. The photo is of the Large Hula Dog Costume.
