Baby Rattle Surprise
Ever wonder what makes a rattle jingle? Believe me, you do not want to know.
Shortly before Little Miss was born, we bought a couple rattles at an upscale womens’ boutique. Mom was using a gift certificate and we had a few stray dollars to burn. Each rattle is composed of colorful woven plastic strands. No manufacturer information was attached to the rattles, but in hindsight, I’m guessing they were made south of the border.
Little Miss outgrew the rattles a few months ago. Because the rattles aren’t watertight, not easily washable, and thus not reusable by some other baby, I dissected them. I was going to cut out the metal bells inside and toss them in a drawer… maybe use them in a future cat toy.
So I was a little surprised to discover that the rattle’s “bell” was two beans and a rusty bottlecap. Blech. That’s what Little Miss has been sucking on all these months?
