I made the horrible mistake of giving our son a Baby Gund security blankie, which was given as a gift. He’s been using it for months and cannot sleep without it. I was horrified when I got online and saw that the cheapest you can find them for is $29! So, let’s just hope it holds up.

I ran across your blog while trying to find a different HTF blankie for one of our readers. We run a Lost Toy Search Service and might be able to help you find one of these giraffes ( we may have him in stock), plus some of your commenter's lovies as well.

I do understand what you are saying about the dish rag. When parents go to find backups and replacements they usually cost in the $30 range, and some go for a hundred!

As for getting your little one to accept the new one - the best way is to rotate all the backups from the beginning, but don't let them know there is more than one in the house. If you are in this predicament later on I suggest letting them have the original with them to sleep and use the newer version(s) during the day. In time they will be just as grungy and can probably be swapped more easily.

I invite you to come see what families are searching for. Who knows, you may have one in the toy box that your child is not interested in that would make another child's greatest hope come true!

I dont get how your youngens dont notice the difference between the new and old. What they’re mainly attatched to is the scent, how do u get them to just adapt to the new one?

I need help. My daughter’s security blanket is the rattiest, nastiest, most torn up toy I’ve ever seen. But she cannot do without it. It’s not going to last more than another month or so — I’m convinced of it. So I’m desperately looking to replace the darn thing. I’m reading some of these posts and I’m delighted to see that I’m not alone in realizing that if I don’t find a replacement my life is going to get really bad for a few days when my daughter has withdrawal. I’ve been all over the web – on line stores, e-bay, amazon, etc. and cannot find the make and model my daughter “needs”. It is a cachcach kitty that was originally a gift. It’s no longer offered by cachcach. I have no idea who made it originally. And I have no idea how to find one. Can anyone point me anywhere worthwhile? Thanks.

Has anyone seen the "taggie" blankets?? I just found about them yesterday by mistake, but I'm seriously considering getting one or maybe 2. My daughter is mesmerized by tags, but I didn't know this was so common that someone actually made a product based on it. I would have never thought of putting 2 & 2 together but I think it's great someone did!!

My daughter got a my lil banky for her first christmas when she was 2 months old. I gave it to her thinking how cute it was. 7 months later, here I am. Desperately searching the web for another because if anything happens to this one… I dont even want to think about it. Only to find, of course, that it has been discontinued. What am I going to do?

I am doomed My four year old stole one of my favorite blankets when he was a baby and to this day will not give it back, and just today my 6 month old grabbed this blanket (my banky-pastel Keiko Dog) off the shelf of a local store, he grabbed on hard enough that it took a good while to pry it from his fingers to check the price, just to have him take it back again. So $30 later I have an interesting explanation that I’m gonna regret in 3 years. I’m just not sure about spending that amount for a blanket a second time.

I found this site looking for a pre-emptive replacement for our little Alexandra’s favorite $4 “Giraffe”. That’s his (or her) name. Giraffe. Alex’s little sister Natalie has a similar blanket with the head and feet of a bear. The bear’s name is “Natalie’s Giraffe”. We will be ordering the remaining stock of pink and blue giraffes at every vendor on the net soon. “Natalie’s Giraffe” will be replaced with the white dish rag from the dollar store before her first birthday.

You are a smart man! We have “Ro Ro” (Roger), a floppy stuffed dog that was given to Kellan when he was 4 months old. Kellan and Roger are inseparable. Kellan cannot sleep without Roger. When he wakes in the night, its usually because Roger has moved out of reach, and simply replacing him in Kellan’s arms results in a happily sleeping boy. We have tried, and tried, and tried to find a duplicate Roger. We know which store he came from (in Britain), but they seem not to carry them anymore. Roger goes in the wash with some frequency (he stinks!), but one day I know that he will not come out in one piece. And what will happen on this day (if there is no backup to be had), I don’t even want to ponder.
